Welcome to Petty's, where our passion for barbequing began with Ira Petty, a proud military retiree. In 2009, inspired by the love for his mouthwatering meats, Ira and his family turned his hobby into a thriving business. Join us as we share the flavors and traditions that make our barbeque truly special. Experience the taste that has brought families together since day one!

Welcome to our story! Our humble beginnings started in a retail shopping space at 1104 Kathey Drive in Killeen, where we proudly cooked all our meats over a 250-gallon offset smoker. Our unique atmosphere was further enhanced by the vibrant murals painted on the walls, making every visit a feast for the senses.

After nearly six years of carrying large pans of meat back and forth from the grill to the restaurant, navigating stairs and the elements, she found the physical demands overwhelming. Longing for a change, she decided to return to her roots as a seamstress, a profession that allowed her to express her creativity and passion for fabric. Shortly after leaving Petty's, Mimi realized she missed the people more than the fabric.  Now she operates K-cafe on Indian Trail Road in Harker Heights.

Mike and Matt, both proud Army veterans, took a bold step by purchasing Petty's. However, they quickly realized that the current location wasn't ideal. Determined to find a better fit, they embarked on a quest for a new home for the restaurant. Frustrated with the quality and prices of rental spaces, they decided to search for a property buy, ensuring Petty's would thrive in a place that truly suited its vision.

Petty's new location officially opened its doors in November 2023, following an extensive five-month renovation of the old Dairy Queen. With an investment of around $250k, the space has been completely transformed inside and out, offering a fresh and inviting atmosphere for all visitors. Come and experience the new look and feel of Petty's, where quality and comfort meet!

Petty's is excited to announce our upgraded facilities, featuring indoor cooking options, a walk-in cooler, and a covered area for our new 1000-gallon smoker, affectionately named "Smog." With a fresh and clean decor, we are committed to delivering consistent, high-quality products that our customers love These enhancements mark a new chapter in our business, allowing us to serve you better than ever before. Come experience difference at Petty's!

Originally built as a Dairy Queen in the 19##, this site has seen a variety of businesses over the years, including "39 Cent Hamburgers," "Picante Burger and Wings," and "Bunny Noodle," even serving as a used car lot at one point. Mike and Matt recognized the potential of this unique structure and are excited to bring Petty's to this changing community. Join us as we create new memories in this beloved space!
